I think that hardest part of this research is going to be finding facts about emotions and LGBT. I know there are plenty of opinions out there but has there been actual scientific research done.
About Me

- To Be Well-Diversified
- I'm 31 years old and have been married for 2 1/2 years. I was born in MN but call NJ home since I spent most of my life there. I like to think that I am a diversified individual but I'm thinking this blog may change some of my views.

Research Reflection
I will not be limiting myself to one LGBT population but all of them. I will be researching the correlation between sexual orientation and emotion. I assume that LGBT people may be more emotional than heterosexual people. I see this mostly with gay men that I have come in contact with in my life, most seem "feminine" when it comes to emotions and crying. I wonder if this is related to the discrimination that they have faced or if it is something more related to a mental disorder.

Hi Amanda,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your post. That is a terrific research question that you have there about the relationship between sexual orientation and display of emotion.
Keep in mind that transgender people might not necessarily be gay or lesbian, and that many identify as straight men or women (as they see themselves, as opposed to their biological sex). Transpeople who wish to live as their intended gender often learn how to "behave" as people of their intended gender behave.
I hope that did not confuse you more. I look forward to reading what you find out!
Sincerely,
Professor Wexelbaum
